Melissa Yost is the founder of Yost Accounting and brings nearly a decade of experience in public accounting to her clients. A proud resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Melissa holds a Master’s in Accountancy from Western Michigan University and is a licensed CPA in the state of Michigan.
Melissa is a member of the Michigan Association of CPAs (MICPA), the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), and the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP). She is also a Certified QuickBooks® Online ProAdvisor, offering expert support for small business owners who want to stay organized and empowered.
After years of working in traditional firms, Melissa launched Yost Accounting to provide a more personalized, flexible, and approachable client experience. She’s passionate about helping business owners understand their numbers—not just report them—and loves finding ways to make accounting less stressful and more strategic. At Yost Accounting, we bring structure, clarity and timely support – so you can focus on your business, your family, and what matters most.
Melissa lives in Kalamazoo with her husband, Alex, and their two young boys. Life with energetic little ones keeps things lively, and she brings the same patience, adaptability, and sense of organization to her work that she uses at home.
As a family, they enjoy spending time outdoors and share a love of baseball, often catching a game or exploring a local trail together. These moments outside of work remind Melissa of the importance of balance and staying grounded.
She brings that same mindset to her clients—offering clarity and calm amidst the chaos of running a business or managing finances.
